Start with the problem sitting in front of you.

Maybe you are trying to get into retail.

Maybe you already got the retailer’s yes, but the stores are not producing what you expected.

Maybe sales are growing while cash keeps getting tighter.

Maybe promotions are moving cases but you cannot tell whether they are actually making money.

Maybe your broker is busy, but you still do not know what is happening at the shelf.

Or maybe you have more dashboards, reports and data than ever, but nobody can agree on what to do next.

That is why I recorded Episode 0.

There are now more than 337 conversations in the Bulletproof Your CPG Brand library, covering retail strategy, shopper insights, category management, trade marketing, deductions, brokers, distributors, retail execution, data, profitable growth and the realities of building a challenger CPG brand.

You do not need to listen to all of them.

You need to find the problem costing you the most right now.

Then start there.

I call this Build Your Retail Muscle.

One skill.
One item.
One retailer.
One materially better result.

Then build the next muscle.

In this episode, I explain how to use the podcast and Retail Solved as a problem-solving system rather than another pile of content.

You will learn how to find the conversations most relevant to what your brand is facing now, put one idea into practice, pressure-test the result and keep building the capabilities your company needs to compete.

Because the goal of this podcast is not to make you better at listening to podcasts.

The goal is to help you become better at retail.

If your brand was created to make better food, improve health, protect the planet, strengthen communities or give shoppers better choices, the mission still needs a financially healthy business underneath it.

You need retailer trust.

You need productive distribution.

You need healthy margins and cash flow.

You need to understand your shopper.

You need to execute.

And you need to build those capabilities into the company so the founder does not have to remain the operating system forever.

Episode 000: New to Bulletproof Your CPG Brand? Start Here.

If you are new to Bulletproof Your CPG Brand, don't start with Episode 1.

Start with the problem sitting in front of you.

Maybe you're trying to get into retail.

Maybe you finally got the retailer's yes, but the product still isn't showing up where the shopper can find it.

Maybe sales are growing, but cash keeps getting tighter.

Maybe you're spending more on promotions and you're not sure whether they're actually working.

Maybe your broker is busy, but you still don't know what's happening at the shelf.

Or maybe you have more data, dashboards and reports than ever, and everyone on the team still has a different opinion about what to do next.

That's why I recorded this episode.

I'm Dan Lohman, and this is Bulletproof Your CPG Brand.

There are now more than 337 conversations in this library.

I've had the privilege of sitting down with founders, retailers, category management pioneers, natural-products leaders, sales experts, data and shopper experts, brokers, solution providers and some of the people who helped build this industry.

I've also shared a lot of lessons I learned the hard way myself.

Some worked spectacularly.

Some didn't.

Both matter.

When I launched this podcast years ago, my mission was to help entrepreneurial brands get access to the kinds of tools, thinking and capabilities large CPG companies often take for granted.

That mission hasn't changed.

The system has just gotten much clearer.

Today I call it Build Your Retail Muscle.

Because getting the retailer meeting isn't enough.

Getting authorization isn't enough.

Buying another data platform isn't enough.

Hiring a broker isn't enough.

Even getting more distribution isn't automatically enough.

You still have to know what to do with the opportunity.

How do you make the retailer's decision easier?

How do you understand what the shopper actually needs?

How do you make the shelf space you've already earned more productive?

How do you know whether a promotion made money instead of simply moving cases?

How do you catch deductions before they quietly eat away at your margin?

How do you make your broker and distributor more effective?

How do you turn reports into better decisions?

And how do you build those capabilities into the company so the founder doesn't have to remain the operating system forever?

Those are retail muscles.

And smaller brands can absolutely build them.

You don't necessarily need the biggest budget.

You need to become better at the fundamentals.

That's why you'll hear me say this a lot:

One skill. One item. One retailer. One better result. Then build the next muscle.

And that's how I want you to use this podcast.

Don't look at 337 episodes and think you have 337 things to listen to.

You don't.

Pick the problem that's costing you the most right now.

Then start there.

On RetailSolved.com/podcast, you'll find the Founder Problem Finder.

Choose the problem that sounds most like what you're dealing with.

I'll point you toward a few conversations that can help you understand it, show you what it looks like in the real world, and give you something practical to try.

Then stop listening for a minute.

Go do the thing.

Pressure-test one promotion.

Look at one retailer.

Check one assortment.

Ask one better question.

Have one different conversation with your broker.

Because the goal of this podcast has never been to make you better at listening to podcasts.

The goal is to help you become better at retail.

There's another reason this archive matters to me.

Many of the brands I work with were created to do something good.

Better ingredients. Better health. More sustainable practices. Better treatment of people, animals or the planet. Stronger communities. More choices for shoppers.

But a mission doesn't protect a brand from bad retail economics.

The company still has to survive.

It has to earn retailer trust.

It has to protect its cash.

It has to understand the shopper.

It has to execute.

It has to become financially strong enough for that mission to continue.

That's why I care so much about helping challenger brands compete above their weight.

The stronger those brands become, the more good they have the opportunity to do.

So if you're new here, welcome.

You do not have to understand everything today.

You do not have to fix the entire company tomorrow.

Start with the problem in front of you.

Build one retail muscle.

Get one materially better result.

Then build the next one.

Retail Operating System

The complete 11-module framework for protecting margin, optimizing trade spend, and scaling distribution with confidence.

Digital retail operating system with performance and analytics icons.

Retailers run on systems.
Most brands run on hustle.

That gap is expensive.

The Retail Operating System™ is the only structured, data-driven retail growth framework built by a Certified Professional Strategic Advisor who has sat both in the founder seat and across the table from retailers.

It gives emerging CPG brands the same operational discipline, trade strategy, and category leverage that big brands use — simplified and systemized to protect margin, optimize trade spend, and extend runway while scaling distribution.

This is not education.
It’s infrastructure.
